If the need arises, two other full service facilities, Northeast Georgia Medical Center and its Lanier Park Campus are a little over an hour away in Gainesville. Additionally, the wide variety of major surgery and career centers, teaching hospitals, and specialized practices are only two hours away in Atlanta.

Mountain Lakes Medical Center

Mountain Lakes Medical Center, a 25-bed critical access hospital located in Clayton, is focused on providing high quality healthcare to the community. Recent growth in the area is evident in the expansion of the medical center which provides 24 hour emergency room and ambulance services; a radiology department with CT, x-ray, mammography and ultrasound services; a full service 24 hour clinical laboratory for both inpatient and outpatient testing; surgical services; physical and respiratory therapy; and nutritional services.

The medical center boasts a highly qualified medical staff, experienced employees, and energetic volunteers who provide excellent inpatient, outpatient, emergency care and support services. As a public, non-profit institution, Mountain Lake Medical Center serves everyone in need of urgent care regardless of their ability to pay. The hospital is an active member of the American Hospital Association and Georgia Hospital Association, and is licensed by the State of Georgia and approved by Medicare and Medicaid.

Rabun County Health Department

The Rabun County Health Department provides health services to county residents on a sliding scale fee basis, depending on income. The clinic provides children's health services, women's health services, and immunizations, administers the WIC program, and screens for sexually transmitted diseases. The clinic is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday, 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. For additional information contact the health department at:
