With its innovative business incentive packages and moderate taxes, Rabun County is a great location for business.
- Property Taxes: Property taxes are determined by tax rates and assessment ratios. The appropriate millage rate applied to the assessed value (40%) of its fair market value. Taxes are due by December 22.
- State Income Tax: Georgia basically follows the Federal Internal Revenue code. Adjustments are necessary on taxable income. Tax rates range from 1% to a maximum of 6%.
- Sales Tax: Georgia has a 4% sales tax. Rabun County has an additional 1% local option, 1% school special use, and 1% SPLOST, making the total sales tax 7%.
- Ad Valorem Vehicle Tax: Ad Valorem taxes are due when license tags are purchased and are based on the blue book value of the vehicle. The tag cost is based on the weight of the vehicle.
